Referrals help connect clients to services faster by collecting key details about their needs and automatically sharing them with relevant providers in your EI Broker’s network. Providers can then review the information, determine if they’re a good fit, and respond promptly.
1. Access the Referrals page
Once your service coordinator account is set up, select Referrals from the navigation bar. Your referral dashboard will display a list of all referrals you’ve created.
2. Start a new referral
Click New Referral at the top of the page to open the referral form.
3. Complete the referral form
Fill in all required sections:
a. Client information
b. Referral information
c. Client availability
d. Family needs
Do not include any PHI (personally identifiable information) in the Family Needs section. This information is visible to providers in the community. While the system scans for PHI and removes unauthorized details, it’s not always 100% accurate—your diligence is essential for maintaining client confidentiality.
4. Submit and distribute
Once submitted, referrals are processed and distributed to matching providers within minutes.
If there are “preferred providers” (such as an EI Broker’s internal team), they will receive the email notification 24 hours before it is sent to the broader provider network.
Tips for effective referrals
- Provide clear, detailed descriptions of client needs without including PHI.
- Confirm client availability to help providers respond faster.
- Review your referral after submission to ensure accuracy and completeness.
